Gee Mail: Welcome home…and mask up!

In a call unifying the West Virginia University family to embark safely and resiliently into a new academic year, President Gordon Gee welcomed faculty, staff and students back into the fold in his latest Gee Mail.

“Together, we are part of history as we navigate unchartered waters in our pursuit of a higher purpose through education,” Gee said. “This is the place we call home – whether virtual or on-campus – and our number one priority is to protect your safety and well-being.”

Recognizing that personal accountability is key to a successful semester, Gee urged the community to follow safety protocols on and off campus to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Morgantown campus courses begin Wednesday (Aug. 26). Classes began last week on the Beckley and Keyser campuses, as well as graduate online degree program courses.

In appreciation for the multitude of efforts it took to return to campus, Gee praised the unified approach across all campuses. “Your passion for our students – and for each other – is inspiring,” he said.
