Public Health professor appointed to statistical advisory board

West Virginia University School of Public Health Professor George A. Kelley, DA, FACSM, has been appointed to the Statistical Advisory Board for BMC Sports Science, Medicine and Rehabilitation (SSMR).

In this role, he will serve as the primary reviewer for systematic reviews with and without meta-analysis. Dr. Kelley also serves in similar roles for Systematic Reviews, BMC Cancer, Journal of Evidence-based Medicine, the British Journal of Nutrition, PLOS One and the World Journal of Methodology.

Dr. Kelley’s own externally funded research focuses on conducting systematic reviews with meta-analysis addressing the effects of exercise and physical activity on selected health outcomes in adult humans. He has authored more than 100 meta-analytic publications in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Kelley teaches in the Department of Biostatistics, including a graduate course on meta-analysis. He received the Vice President’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Research and Scholarly Activities from the WVU Health Sciences Center in 2018 and the Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award from the WVU School of Public Health in 2019.

BMC SSMR is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that considers articles on all aspects of sports medicine and the exercise sciences, including rehabilitation, traumatology, cardiology, physiology and nutrition.
