Public Health students, faculty and alumnus to present during 29th Annual West Virginia Rural Health Conference
Several School of Public Health students and a recent graduate have been selected to present posters at this year’s West Virginia Rural Health Conference on October 20-22. The theme for this year’s virtual event is “Reimagining Rural Health: Responding to Unprecedented Challenges.”
Presenters include:
- Miranda Aman: Background Levels of Environmental Dioxin
- Raihan Khan, PhD: Experiences, challenges and coping skills related to diabetes distress among rural West Virginia adults
- Brenna Kirk: The Role of Patient Self-Advocacy and Patient-Provider Communication in Diabetes Self-Care: Results from a Feasibility Study
- *Alika Lopatka: Program Evaluating the Impact of the Regrounding Our Response Curriculum on Attitudes Toward Substance Use Disorders in West Virginia (*Selected as one of four student podium presentations)
- Zainab Rana: Maternal Oral Health Knowledge, Attitude, Practices, and Barriers to Care in Appalachia
- Dylan Willis: Medical Cannabis in West Virginia
Additionally, Office of Health Services Research Director Adam Baus, PhD, will co-lead two Roundtable Breakouts: “The WV Hepatitis Academic Mentoring Partnership” and “Understanding success in medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder.”
