Dr. Lindsay Allen, PhD
Lindsay Allen is a health economist and an assistant professor in the Health Policy, Management, and Leadership department at WVU’s School of Public Health. Her areas of expertise include spatial and financial access to health care, changes in the health care delivery infrastructure, and emergency medicine. Dr. Allen received her PhD in health economics and health services research from Emory University. Prior to attending Emory, she worked in the pharmaceutical industry, and as a senior healthcare technology analyst for the ECRI Institute. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Johns Hopkins University, and her master’s degree from the University of Chicago.
Dr. Alfgier L. Kristjansson, PhD
Dr. Kristjansson is an expert in social and behavioral research methodology, including research design, survey methods, and data analyses. His primary content areas of expertise include child & adolescent health risk behaviors, such as substance abuse, teen parenting, and school drop-out prevention. Dr. Kristjansson earned his MSc in Social Research Methodology from Edinburgh University in the UK in 2004 and a PhD in Social Medicine from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden in 2010. He was a Post-doctoral fellow in health & behavior studies at Columbia University in New York City between 2010 and 2012 before joining the faculty at WVU School of Public Health. He has over 10 years of experience in conducting and evaluating a wide range of community health promotion programs.
Dr. Michael J. Mann, PhD
Dr. Mann has over 22 years of experience serving children, adolescents, and their families as a teacher, principal, and organizational leader working in publicly funded schools and non-profit organizations that support school-based intervention. He received his PhD in Health Education and Behavior from the University of Florida in 2007. His areas of expertise include child and adolescent health/development, developing system-level approaches to school health promotion including drop-out prevention, supporting fully integrated school and public health partnerships, school and program evaluation, and community engaged practice and research. He joined the West Virginia School of Public Health in July 2012.
