Margaret Kitt

(Retired) Deputy Director , Program at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)

Dr. Margaret Kitt is an occupational medicine physician who served 34 years in Federal Service. She spent 30 years active duty, 14 years as an Air Force Flight Surgeon and 16 years as a Commissioned Corps Officer in the United States Public Health Service, retiring as a Rear Admiral. She worked at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, from 2002 until Oct 1, 2022. She served as the NIOSH Deputy Director from 2009-2022, completing her last four years as a NIOSH Distinguished Consultant. Dr Kitt played a leadership role in numerous disaster and humanitarian crises to include the September 11th response, an HHS Secretarial Initiative in Afghanistan, the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and the COVID-19 Pandemic.
