WV Oral Health Care Evaluation

Description: The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources was recently awarded a pilot grant to improve perinatal and infant oral health.  The West Virginia University Health Research Center (HRC) will collaborate with the West Virginia Oral Health Program, the West Virginia University Helping Appalachian Parents and Infants program(WVUHAPI) , and stakeholders to assist in evaluation efforts to expand access to oral health care among Medicaid eligible women and infants.   This will include assistance with identifying proper benchmark and target measures, tracking progress over the four year grant award period, and determining project outcomes.

Goal: Collaborate with the West Virginia Oral Health Program (WVOHP) to evaluate grant effectiveness, implementation, and outcomes.

Objectives:

  • Consult with WVOHP to determine proper evaluation measures, benchmark data, and target goals;
  • Assist WVOHP in developing regular tracking and monitoring tools;
  • Provide input and assistance on primary and secondary data sources, collection methods, and analysis;
  • Disseminate evaluation data to appropriate stakeholders and/or research publication venues.
