Webinar: COVID-19 Vaccination for People who are Pregnant or Breastfeeding

Friday, Oct. 29 from Noon to 1 p.m.

Pregnant people with COVID-19 are more likely to be hospitalized, be admitted to the intensive care unit, require mechanical ventilation, and die from the illness than their non-pregnant peers. Severe COVID-19 during pregnancy also may put the infant at risk for complications, such as preterm birth.

In August 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and prevention and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) both updated their recommendations and now strongly recommend COVID-19 vaccination for pregnant and lactating individuals.

This webinar will describe the impact of COVID-19 on pregnant and lactating people and the role of vaccination in preventing severe disease and death in these individuals.

Webinar Objectives:

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the impact that COVID-19 pandemic has on pregnant and lactating women.
  2. Describe the recommendations for COVID-19 vaccination of pregnant and breastfeeding people.
  3. Describe the ongoing MOMI-VAX investigation that is under way.
