HRC Director's Research Highlighted in Journal of Consumer Affairs

As part of 2015 research on the Affordable Care Act, Health Research Center Director Dr. Tom Bias, with colleagues M. Paula Fitzgerald (WVU Business and Economics), and Tami Gurley-Calvez (University of Kansas) posed the question of what is known and unknown about consumer well-being in relation to the Affordable Care Act. This article was featured as one of the Journal of Consumer Affair's top 20 articles of the past 50 years.

HRC Researchers Highlighted in Rails-to-Trails Conservancy Magazine

HRC faculty and staff research, in collaboration with the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC), has been featured in the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy Magazine. This research explores the business impact of trails in the greater Morgantown area. Research results will be used to influence development in the Industrial Heartland Trail Coalition.

WVU HRC Faculty and Staff Partner with UHC for Community Health Needs Assessment

The Affordable Care Act of 2010 requires that every non-profit hospital conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and adopt an implementation strategy every three years. WVU School of Public Health, Health Research Center (WVU HRC) faculty and staff partnered with United Hospital Center (UHC) and WVU Medicine to facilitate a community-based process for collecting input about health challenges facing Harrison and Doddridge Counties. This process includes a community-wide survey of over 700 Harrison and Doddridge County residents, as well as a community event held at UHC to engage multi-sector leadership about potential organizations, programs, and services to address community health needs.
