Professor Misra brings the issue of health disparities to the national stage

West Virginia University School of Public Health Professor Ranjita Misra was a guest speaker at the 20th Annual Texas Conference on Health Disparities, held June 4–6, 2025, at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. The event brought together more than 400 researchers, clinicians, experts and community leaders from across the country for the shared mission of reducing health disparities across the U.S.

Misra delivered an insightful presentation titled “Implementing an Educational Intervention for Preventive Care in Rural Communities: Lessons Learned from an Innovative Academic-Community Partnership.” While there, she also contributed her expertise to two panel sessions focused on community engagement and academic-community partnerships in the current environment.

Earlier this year, Misra joined national experts as a grant reviewer for a National Institutes of Health Special Emphasis Panel, bringing her insights to national conversations on community-level intervention and prevention research.
