/ Meet Seth Haxel, BeWell's newest member

  • Seth is a behavioral health therapist for Health Sciences students. He has been working with the Carruth Center since 2018 and transitioned to BeWell in the summer of 2021.
  • He describes his counseling style as laid back, warm, and relaxed. His primary theoretical orientation is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and he enjoys using CBT to help his clients identify how their thoughts, actions, and feelings are all interconnected.
  • Seth also strongly believes in the importance of self-care, both personally and professionally. He has experience working with depression, anxiety, substance use, academic concerns, and stress management. He has expertise working with obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobias, and panic disorder.

/ Try a Koru Mindfulness course

  • Offered virtually through The Carruth Center
  • Wednesdays from 5 to 6:15 p.m.
  • Beth Moore, a counselor at the Carruth Center, states that Koru Mindfulness is a 4-session course that will teach students the skill of mindfulness. It will also help students build the habit of using it in their lives on a regular basis. We’ve found that folks get a lot more out of Koru if they stick with it from beginning to end, therefore attendance at all 4 sessions is required.
  • Each session is 75 minutes. Students are encouraged to read the “Mindful Twenty Something”, an e-book that is available for free at the WVU library, and practice 10 minutes of mindfulness each day. As they log their practice, Beth is able to support them by commenting on their logs several times a week.
  • Skills discussed in each class will be as follows: Class 1, Belly Breathing, Dynamic Breathing, Body Scan; Class 2, Walking Meditation, Gatha; Class 3, Guided Imagery, Labeling Thoughts; and Class 4, Eating Meditation, Labeling Feelings.
  • For more information, email Beth Moore.
