Celebrating Research and Scholarship into Community Health and Racial Justice, Tuesday, Dec. 7

Presenters include Drs. Linda Alexander and Dan McNeil

In partnership with the WVU Research Office, the Office of the Provost, the Office of the President, the Eberly College is pleased to host a 90-minute symposium which showcases awardees from two recent initiatives that have been led by the Eberly College Research Office.

The symposium will take place entirely over Zoom and will start at noon on Tuesday, December 7. For your convenience, the connection details are appended at the end of this message.

In spring of 2020, five teams were awarded seed grant funding to work on projects aimed at targeting research into addressing topics pertaining to community health and wellbeing. Later in the year, awards were given to three additional groups to support projects that address and speak to matters of racial injustice and inequalities in society. As 2021 comes to a close, this virtual event will be an opportunity for all teams to present aspects of their work and what they plan to do in the year ahead. The representatives from each team are listed below.

  • Dan Totzkay (Communication Studies) and Susannah Donaldson (Sociology & Anthropology)
  • Mary LeCloux (School of Social Work)
  • Margaret Stout (Public Administration) and Daniel Eades (Extension Service)
  • Karen Weiss and Jim Nolan (Sociology and Anthropology)
  • Katie Kang (Communication Studies)
  • Rachael Woldoff and Heather Washington (Sociology & Anthropology)
  • Amy Alvarez (English)
  • Dan McNeil (Psychology) and Linda Alexander (Health Sciences)

Each of the groups will give a 5-minute presentation on their work. Other members of the University community will also share, and there will be time allotted for discussion/questions.

The event is free and no registration is required. Join via the Zoom as your schedule permits. The event will be recorded and made available following the event.
