Community Action Poverty Simulation event to be held May 20
All WVU and WVU Medicine faculty and staff are invited to join the WVU Health Sciences Office of Interprofessional Education for a Community Action Poverty Simulation professional development event Monday, May 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Health Sciences Center.
The interprofessional, interactive and impactful event aims to deepen understanding of and improve approaches to serving individuals facing poverty and homelessness.
The half-day session will include breakfast, a workshop on poverty and homelessness in West Virginia, the Missouri Community Action Poverty Simulation and a discussion on application to education and clinical practice.
Continuing education credit is available for physicians, nurses, dentists and dental hygienists, pharmacists, licensed professional counselors and American College of Healthcare Executives participants. Credits are pending for social work. Refer to event details for specific accreditation information.
Registration is required for participation. The $10 registration fee covers the cost of materials and refreshments. Individuals can reserve their spot via the registration form, and electronic fee payment will be available at a later date.
The Office of Interprofessional Education believes that fostering a deeper understanding of poverty and homelessness is essential for all members of our community, regardless of discipline or specialty. By coming together to learn and engage in meaningful dialogue, we can better support those in need and work towards creating a more equitable and compassionate society.
