DEAR CHARLESTON
As we bring the 2015-16 year to a close at OLLI at WVU, Charleston, it is time to reflect on our successes and struggles, then look to the future.
In the next few days, many of you will be receiving a letter from OLLI inviting you to a Town Hall meeting to discuss the future of OLLI in Charleston. I hope that you can join us. Over the past year, OLLI has offered an array of classes in Charleston with varied success. We have heard both expressions of support as well as a few frustrations. We are listening and want to hear more.
In light of the current situation, we are not offering any classes in Charleston this summer. We are focusing our efforts on addressing our members’ and the community’s concerns about the program, exploring alternative locations for classes, and recruiting volunteer instructors from the community to build an exciting slate of offering for the fall term.
OLLI at WVU is committed to building the program for the benefit of the Charleston community but we need your help. Please join us on Thursday, June 16, from 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. to share your ideas and concerns. This Town Hall will be at the CAMC Research and Training center located at 3211 MacCorkle Avenue SE Charleston, WV 25304. (Parking is free just push the buzzer for entrance.)
The meeting is open to the public so feel free to bring a friend. If you are unable to attend the meeting but would like to have your voice heard, please email me jascenna.haislet@hsc.wvu.edu or call me at 304-293-4780.
