DEAR CHARLESTON AREA
Thank you for your continued interest and support of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at West Virginia University in Charleston. We are excited to be able to share with your community the opportunities and benefits of an OLLI program where the pursuit of knowledge is simply for the joy of learning!
Since the launch of the Charleston branch in Spring 2015, OLLI at WVU has strived to offer a selection of classes across disciplines to our Charleston members with varied success. We want to continue to increase our offerings and build the program from within the community, drawing on local talent.
But we need your help! Classes during the current term have been cancelled due to low enrollment and we have no classes scheduled for the upcoming summer term.
In an effort to revitalize the program, we are holding a town hall meeting on Thursday, June 16, at 3:30 p.m. at the CAMC Research and Training Center (32 MacCorkle Avenue SE, Classroom AB). You are invited to come and share your thoughts, concerns, and ideas with me, the new Director of OLLI at WVU; Jim Held, OLLI Board President; and Ed Johnson, chair of the facilities and technology committee.
Our goals are to address any concerns of the membership, discuss alternative classroom sites and schedules, and establish a steering committee of local members who want to help recruit both new members and instructors for the Charleston branch.
This meeting is open to anyone interested in OLLI so feel free to bring a friend! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us at (304)293-4780 or email: jascenna.haislet@hsc.wvu.edu.
