DIRECTOR'S NOTE: August 19, 2016

The fall course catalog is at the printer! You can find a copy of it, as well as the Schedule at a Glance, on the OLLI website.  Registration for fall classes begins Friday, September 9.

As I was laying out the fall term catalog, I couldn’t help but notice a theme in this fall’s programming, a theme that makes me smile…Music! OLLI members can choose from eight classes in the arts and humanities that feature singers, musicians, instruments, performances, and/or musical history; learn to play an instrument in two classes; and improve your foreign language skills in another.

Music is a powerful force. As a vehicle for the expression of a multitude of dreams, desires, and sensations, it evokes memories, inspiration, imagination, and emotion. Music nourishes the soul.

It may also heal and protect the mind and body.  Learn more about the benefits of music and music-making during OLLI’s annual Irving Goodman Aging Lecture with Amy Rodgers Smith, MT-BC, a neurologic music therapist, on Wednesday, September 14.

Put a little music in your life this fall with OLLI. From Verdi to Gershwin to George Strait, from organs to dulcimers to trombones, and more, we’ve got something for everyone!
