DIRECTOR'S NOTE, SEPTEMBER 9, 2016

Have you decided which OLLI classes you’re going to take this fall? Registration begins today.  Most classes begin the week of September 26, although a few are already starting, including the New Horizons Band and some of our special interest groups. If I had the time, I would probably take ten or eleven classes, at least. But I’ll have to limit myself to just a couple for now. I do have these director duties to attend to.

I hope you have your calendar marked for the Irving Goodman Aging Lecture Series and the Fall Open House next Wednesday afternoon. Amy Rodgers Smith will be presenting “Music Therapy and Aging” at 1:00 p.m. in classroom B.  Although encouraged, pre-registration for the lecture is NOT required so don’t let that stop you from coming if you find yourself free Wednesday afternoon.

Following the lecture, the open house will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the courtyard of the Mountaineer Mall.  Inspire a friend to become a new member of OLLI and be entered to win a gift certificate at the holiday party in December.

And speaking of membership, I’m pleased to announce that we have reached 311 members as of yesterday afternoon, or 53% of our goal. I’m looking forward to seeing what that number looks like by the end of next week. So share your passion for OLLI with a friend. With your help, I’m convinced we can easily reach our goal of 585 members this year.
