DIRECTOR'S NOTE

I am pleased to share with everyone that we have reached over 82% of our membership goal this year. With a goal of 585 members, we currently have 484.  Thank you all for your continued support of OLLI at WVU and lifelong learning with your membership and sharing with friends and family.  Remember, if you refer a friend or family member who joins as a new member, you will be entered in our December Holiday Open House drawing for a $25.00 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble.

Every dollar in membership dues helps OLLI achieve sustainability.  But membership alone is not enough.  We depend on your additional financial support to help pay the rent, keep the classrooms clean and the lights turned on, and even provide coffee service.

As I was recently working through our budget, I discovered that providing coffee, tea, and water in the member lounge costs OLLI over $1,200 annually. That’s about $10 per OLLI class day. I know that some of our members are generous with donations to the coffee fund and I want to thank you! But this is covering only about 25% of the cost.

Having a cup of hot coffee or tea, or a cold cup of fresh water, available is a small gesture that makes our members feel welcome, appreciated, and comfortable. We don’t want to lose that. So the next time you stop by the lounge for a cup, please consider dropping a few coins in the collection box on the wall.
