Diversity Task Force shares message from APHA President
The School of Public Health Diversity Task Force shares this recent statement from the American Public Health Association President Georges C. Benjamin, MD, regarding the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg -- a champion of gender equality.
Excerpt from the statement:
As the second, and longest-serving, woman in U.S. history on the high court, she was a trailblazer for women’s rights and a staunch defender of reproductive rights, marriage equality and health care accessibility. She also worked fearlessly to advance the rights of disabled Americans and immigrants during her more than quarter century on the bench.
We honor her years of public service and commitment to provide equal opportunity for all Americans. We thank her for serving as a role model and blazing a trail against gender discrimination.
The West Virginia University School of Public Health is a proud member of the American Public Health Association.
