From the Director - January 19, 2018 | School of Public Health

Welcome back to OLLI! It seems as if it’s been forever since I’ve seen the familiar bustle of members arriving for classes, stopping for coffee, and meeting friends.

I’d like to start the new term with a huge Thank You to our members who made possible with their generous donations the purchase of a large screen to make watching the Film Forums more enjoyable. Thank you also to the members who donated specifically for new instructor tables and the start of upgrading the sound systems in both classrooms. Another member donated a small, comfy loveseat for the member lounge.

I am continuously amazed by the enthusiasm that our members have for OLLI and their willingness to help, whether through volunteering, donating, and simply encouraging others to join them for a class. Almost daily I see various reports and studies that suggest the ample benefits of staying socially and intellectually engaged as one ages. But OLLI members don’t need to read studies to know this. Our own experiences prove it.
