Graduate Service Assistants for Fall 2020 – COVID-19 Command Center

Application deadline for Fall 2020 position is August 13, 2020 and will be considered on an as needed basis until September 8, 2020.

The Office of the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives has developed a command center to coordinate WVU’s response to student cases of COVID-19. The command center will be a central nerve center that monitors developments on campus and guides the process to make sure that all key units are informed of incidents on campus, that all information relating to positive cases and quarantines are communicated in a timely fashion, and that a team is activated to move quickly to fill gaps in services or solve problems as they arise on campus.

Specific potential tasks for GSAs in the command center may include:

  1. Participating in daily conference calls and meetings with stakeholders from across the University.
  2. Developing summaries of meetings, lists of action items, and related read-outs of key meetings.
  3. Providing logistical and operational support when issues develop on campus from the command center.
  4. Supporting key leaders in executing tasks identified at the command center.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a full-time graduate student (at least 9 credits) accepted to and enrolled in a graduate degree program at West Virginia University.
  • Must have excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • Must be well organized and possess excellent time management skills.
  • Individuals with data and reporting skills and project management experience are desired.
  • Graduate assistants will work 20 hours per week.

COMPENSATION

The position is a full graduate assistantship, and the graduate stipend is $13,500 for the academic year. This includes a tuition waiver for University tuition and a student health insurance waiver.
