HSC Active Directory project ends Friday, Nov. 1

In the final week of the long-running project to rebuild the HSC Active Directory before Friday, Nov. 1, Information Technology Services will be actively working to update 330 remaining Windows computers at the Health Sciences Center. This includes about 170 devices in the School of Dentistry. To facilitate this final round of updates, please ensure all data is saved on your computer at the end of the business day, and leave your computer powered on and connected to the HSC network.

While ITS has successfully updated 3,992 computers during evening hours with little to no disruption, the outstanding devices have been unreachable during the departments’ scheduled update windows, either because the computers were powered down or off the WVU network.

If your computer is not updated by Friday, Nov. 1, you will be unable to log in. If this occurs, call the HSC Help Desk at 304-293-3631 so a technician can be assigned. Once the remote update process begins, it should take about 20 minutes to restore access.

You will know if your machine has already been updated by looking at your login prompt. If it shows "HSAD" under the username and password fields, your machine has already been updated, and you WON'T be affected on Nov. 1.

This upgrade, which must be completed before WVU’s licensing expires, does NOT affect Linux devices, tablets, phones or Mac users.
