MPH student Michael Jude awarded UPMC Internship

Michael Jude has been chosen from a pool of more than 300 applicants to participate in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s (UPMC) Physician Services Division Summer Residency program. The 12-13 week program for graduate students offers practical healthcare management experience in various departments and practices throughout the Physician Services Division.

Students earn internship course credits while completing this field experience. Michael Jude is in his last semester of the program on campus; he plans to graduate at the end of August.  In addition to his studies, Jude is active in the Student Association for Public Health and serves as an MPH Ambassador.

“We’re very proud that Michael has been recognized for his ability to contribute to the Physician Services Division at an organization as large as UPMC,” comments Bobbi Sykes, SPH Associate Practicum Coordinator. “Not only will this offer valuable field experience for him, but having completed this summer residency will allow Michael to apply for post-graduate funded fellowships at the institution.”

Michael is a native of Beckley, West Virginia and received his undergraduate degree in Biology from WVU.  He would like to someday work as a hospital administrator or manager of a private physician practice.  “I am extremely excited to be given the opportunity to intern at UPMC this summer.  This internship offers the chance to gain valuable experience in the field working for one of the top health care organizations today,” says Jude.
