OLLI PRESIDENT'S CORNER - Having a Purpose
Every so often, we get an unexpected but nice reminder, confirmation or billboard that tells us stuff we need to know. So, this week, several of us were taking Stan Cohen’s class on “More on Eat Right, Eat Well,” and one of the little facts he put up on the screen was this: Having a sense of purpose adds an average of 7 years to one’s life!
Naturally, I thought this was a great idea and as your newly minted President, I thought it certainly applied to all of us OLLI members. If each of us would ask how we can best serve this wonderful group, we just might find even more purpose in our lives. We need each of you to come to classes, serve on committees, chair some committees and, sure, just give money to support our mission. We need it all, so please stop right now and ask yourself, honestly, what the best thing you can do might be, and then do it! Shoot me an email or a call if you want to share. It’s officially the dog days of summer, or will be tomorrow, so please stay cool, take a class while there’s still time, go to the movies or hug your grandkids or the cat! (OK, or the dog).
