Public Health Students,

I hope everyone is safe and healthy as we approach mid-term of Spring 2022. I know you're working hard in your courses. Don't forget to explore opportunities occurring beyond the classroom too. There are many great opportunities happening around the university that I encourage you to consider.

Please see the list of campus, career, and summer opportunities below. Some of these have been included in previous e-news messages, either from the SPH, HSC and/or University, but wanted to provide an at a glance listing, with the most time-sensitve items listed first. 


Career Services Career Fair This Spring

Join the Career Services Office for their next Spring 2022 Career Fair! There will be an All-Majors Virtual Career and Internship Fair on Wednesday, March 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Handshake's Virtual Platform. Don't miss the great opportunity to meet with potential employers this spring!

Sign up for the March Idea Challenge 

The March Idea Challenge, an innovation pitch competition with $5,000 in cash prizes. This year’s ideas should include a solution to a social issue or a societal benefit. 

Top submissions will pitch their ideas to judges in a semi-final competition on March 22 and the top presenters will advance to the March 31 final round. This competition is an opportunity for WVU students to pitch their idea to a panel of industry professionals to win funding. Applications due by 5 p.m. March 11.

Seeking New Members for Wellness & Mental Health Student Advisory Board 
The Wellness and Mental Health Student Advisory Board is seeking new members for the upcoming 2022-2023 academic year. The student board's purpose is to help support the holistic well-being of WVU students through advocacy, feedback, and peer influence. If you are interested in joining this board, fill out the application by Friday, March 11. Second-Year WVU Students: Apply to Honors EXCEL
The Honors EXCEL program is now accepting applications for Fall 2022 admission into the program. Any WVU student who is a rising junior with a 3.0+ GPA is eligible to apply. Students from all disciplines who are interested in designing and implementing an independent project are welcome to apply. Projects should last three to four semesters. Students will apply with a brief project proposal and the name of a proposed mentor. The deadline for submitting the applications is Monday, April 25. More information about eligibility and the application process can be found on our website or by contacting the program at HonorsEXCEL@mail.wvu.edu. Want to learn more about the program and the application process? Stop by one of our upcoming Info Sessions:

Summer Adventure for rising sophomore students:

Sophomore Outdoor Adventure Orientation

Adventure WV will host the Sophomore Outdoor Adventure Orientation program May 7-13. Adventures include white water rafting, climbing at Via Ferrata and outdoor exploration across the state. 

SOAR is designed to provide rising sophomore students the opportunity to reflect on their first year of college and prepare for the future. The cost of the trip is $125 and includes transportation, instruction, equipment, and food.

Students can register through April 22.
