NEEDED Part-Time Visitor Services Coordinator
MORGANTOWN, HIGH STREET VISITOR CENTER
The Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau operates a downtown Visitors’ Center to welcome visitors to the downtown and surrounding area and provides maps and brochures, and ensures all visitors to Greater Morgantown have a high-quality experience. The Visitor Center is staffed to greet visitors, answer questions, provide directions (walking, driving, and public transit), and offer suggestions for shopping, dining, and recreation in Greater Morgantown.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Visitor Services Coordinator is a part time position, answering directly to the GMCVB Director of Marketing and Visitor Services.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee function of the Visitors Center during operating hours
- Facilitate distribution of relevant traveler and local information to visitors
- Participate in designated Downtown events, when necessary
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- In-depth knowledge of the Greater Morgantown area, and its history, visitor attractions, and businesses, or demonstrated experience quickly coming up to speed on such information
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite, internet use, and record keeping
- A calm and professional demeanor when dealing with the public and/or with difficult situations, and the ability to work well with a diverse group of staff
- Strong oral communication skills
- Flexible, able to work independently, problem-solver
BACKGROUND
The Greater Morgantown CVB is a non-profit organization dedicated to making Greater Morgantown a vibrant destination. The Greater Morgantown CVB markets the area as a unique shopping, dining, outdoor recreation and historic destination. Position commitment is a minimum of 25-30 hours/week, some weekends and events as determined.
