April Fool’s Edition…

Best not trust absolutely everything in this column if you know what’s good (or bad) for you!

Here cometh April again, and as far as I can see the world hath more fools in it than ever. ~Charles Lamb

The trouble with practical jokes is that very often they get elected.  ~Will Rogers

Men reach their sexual peak at eighteen.  Women reach theirs at thirty-five.  Do you get the feeling that God is playing a practical joke?  ~Rita Rudner

And now, for something completely different…

One thing kids like is to be tricked.  For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse.  "Oh, no," I said.  "Disneyland burned down."  He cried and cried, but I think that deep down, he thought it was a pretty good joke.  I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.  ~Jack Handey

And now, for something else completely different…

  • This is your “pep talk” for the Spring Term…  We still need more members to fill out our required 500 for Osher.  Please beat the bushes and arm-twist a friend or five to join—it only takes a $25 trial membership this close to year’s end. The staff will have computers set up outside the office for registration, and to keep your credit card info private, should you wish to use it, charges on Lumens will be handled in the office. There are 50 or so great classes on offer covering lots of topics, so give the catalog a look and plan on registering Wednesday.  Spring term begins April 18.
  • The Director search is done, but we have to wait to announce the result until the background check is done and an offer accepted. Stay tuned.  We’ll let you know the instant we have a winner.
