PRESIDENT'S CORNER

This week is about your Board of Directors.  Last Monday we had our meeting and passed the latest version of the strategic plan, last done in 2012.  Some of us, me included, have asked why these things are important.  In my career at WVU, I was involved in working them out several times, often at state mandate or because of accreditation proceduresl  They are common now for many organizations and can be a useful way to see where you think you want to go and, years later, remind your how much you have actually accomplished.

I asked the Baord members to fill out cards, telling me what they would like you to know about them, or opt out.  So, if someone isn't here this week or next, not to worry...either you know them really well or they are in the witness protection program and remain mute!  So, in no particular order, there are some of their notes:

Bob Craig (advisor) is a past president of OLLI, chairs the Curriculum Committee, was on the faculty of WVU's School of Medicine, and is interested in roses, wine, travel, reading, golf and bridge.

Sumitra Reddy is a WVU physicist who love to travel (and share with OLLI classes), study world languages and literature, and go to opera and theater.

Roger Dalton (advisor) is a past president of OLLI, past Postmaster of Morgantown, and likes to say that "Past" is his favorite title.  He also takes a few good pictures!

Jane Martin is a recovering president!

Barb Rasmussen is a retired historian and serves on the Mon County Landmarks Commission...and she and I served on the Met Theater Preservation Foundation for a long time.

The rest next week.

OK, Charleston and Morgantown:  The fall term begins on Monday, September 21.  If you haven't gotten your catalog yet, it's also on our website, or you'll get it soon.  If all else fails, drop by our office and pick up the one-page outline of all 50+ (Morgantown) and 10 (Charleston) classes. Many thanks to everyone that helped to put together this wealth of Lifelong Learning opportunities.

You can still register for classes and join OLLI for one term or all terms!
