PRESIDENT'S CORNER

We are now half through our fall term, and it sounds like everyone is having a fine time.  There are still some classes offering short, one, two, or three session opportunities for learning new things, and some still have room, so check it out!

We need help in identifying our veterans and providing information about their service.  Please do not be shy if this is YOU.  We want to honor our vets next month with a special event, so talk to us and let us know about you or a friend that may be a bit shy.  Send information to Diane or Angela or even me...OK?  Watch the Bulletin for more announcements about the Veteran's Day event.

Angela and I will be driving down to Charlotte, NC (the unflooded part) on Monday for the Osher National Conference. I plan to learn more about curriculum committees and identifying ourself better in the community, and a host of other things.  Angela and I have tried not to overlap on the break-out sessions we attend so we can gather a diversity of information.  We'll report back to you soon. The conference lasts through lunch on Wednesday, and then we'll return.

Did you know Jack Pavone and I share the same birthday...only he is way older, and yesterday I found out Roger Lohman also has a birthday this week or next - all three Libra's...so much balance!  Don't send cards...donate to an OLLI cause!

At twenty, a man is full of fight and hope. He wants to reform the world.  When he is seventy, he still wants to reform the world, but he knows he can't.  (Lawyer Clarence Darrow)

Sixty years ago, I knew everything; now I know nothing; education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance. (Historian Will Durant)

Ah, yes, but isn't OLLI just the perfect place to prove him wrong?  Have a lovely weekend.
