RSVP for Mental Health First Aid Course, Friday, Dec. 6
The Diversity Task Force invites you to participate in a Mental Health First Aid course intended to provide faculty, staff and students with a more comprehensive approach to provide support for the populations we teach and interact with on a day-to-day basis. It is our hope this training will help us as champions for mental wellness to recognize those experiencing mental health challenges or crises.
This training will accommodate 30 participants, and so please register here. Lunch will be on your own; additional details immediately follow:
- Date: Friday, Dec. 6
- Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Location: HSC 7608
Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations and where to turn for help. Additional event details are below.
As mentioned, spots are limited, so please RSVP as soon as possible.
For questions, please contact Audra Hamrick, director of public health practice and service learning.
