SPH community partner offering SNAP Stretch vouchers

Mountain People's Co-op, one of the School of Public Health's newest community partners, is offering a new SNAP Stretch program.

The West Virginia Food and Farm Coalition has earmarked $11,000 dollars to reimburse the co-op for vouchers redeemed at their store between now and the end of November. This will provide SNAP shoppers a dollar for dollar match. As a bonus, shoppers age 65 and over and shoppers with children will receive a one to two match.

The co-op wants to be sure community members with SNAP benefits and local farmers whose products they sell receive these funds. Spending this money will also improve the prospects for future funding of the program.
