Students interested in pursuing one of these positions should complete the form linked below before the deadline (June 30, 2020 – 12:00 p.m.):

SAPH Application Form (You will be redirected to a Qualtrics Form)

The form itself will take you less than five minutes to complete, but before beginning, be prepared to upload a copy of your most recent resume along with a quick (2 minutes or less) video including the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your program, concentration and year of study (i.e. 2nd year MPH student in Epidemiology; Senior B.S. in Public Health student in Patient Navigation)
  • Your hometown
  • Which position you are seeking and why you are interested
  • What skills do you have that make you the best fit for this role
    • Include previous organization/leadership experience
  • What are two goals you have for the organization and how do you plan on working toward achieving those

The video can be recorded on your cell phone, zoom or any other platform that you can use to save and upload the video (YouTube, etc.). If you have difficulty attaching or uploading the video, please reach out to Scot McIntosh via email for assistance. Make sure the video is well lit and the audio is clear, and make it fun! In the event that elections need to be held for contested positions, these videos and your resume will be shared with the student body to help them make an informed decision about their leadership team.

One common question I receive about SAPH is, “are undergraduate students eligible for officer positions?” Yes. Undergraduates are eligible to hold SAPH officer positions. Over the last two years, undergraduates have served the organization in the roles of treasurer and social media liaison. In general, to pursue positions within SAPH, preference will be given to undergrads who meet the following requirements:

  • For treasurer, social media liaison or secretary positions:
    • Junior or senior academic standing
    • Completed one year of membership in SAPH (preferred, not required)
    • Record of volunteer activity and/or attendance at meetings for each semester as a SAPH member
    • Must have the ability to attend monthly officer and member meetings
    • If the student is a senior, they need to be scheduled to graduate in May of the upcoming year to prevent mid-year leadership vacancies
  • For vice president or president positions:
    • Adherence to the guidelines above along with a previously held a leadership position within SAPH or another WVU recognized student organization

MPH/MS/PHD students who have pursued these positions in the past have typically completed their first year of graduate students and shown an exemplary track record of involvement as undergraduates/first year students.
