Public Mental Health Course Description

Emphasizing the importance and relevance of mental health in the public health arena, students review principles and methods of general epidemiology and apply them to the study of mental disorders.

Includes updated scientific information regarding the epidemiology and risk factors of major psychiatric disorders such as anxiety, mood, psychotic, personality, drug and alcohol use disorders and how these are affecting increased prevalence of mental disorders, the increased cost of mental health care, and the resulting burden on patients, families and society.
