The Market at Health Sciences to close seating areas at 4 p.m. daily

In an effort to create a safe, secure and quality experience for students, faculty and staff, The Market at Health Sciences will begin closing the main dining/seating areas after daily operating hours effective Thursday, Nov. 4. Due to ongoing staffing challenges and security issues, The Market’s entry and exit doors will be locked daily at 4 p.m. Access to general seating areas will be restricted after 4 p.m.

Currently, the areas behind dining establishment counters are not able to be locked and secured after they are closed which presents cleaning and security challenges for Sodexo’s staff.

There are multiple areas in the Health Sciences Center that are available to students and staff:

  • Pylon Commons (first floor) – abundant common area seating on the main level and on the second floor outside of the Health Sciences Library.
  • Health Sciences Library – second floor above the Pylons Lobby has multiple seating arrangements for quiet study space.
  • Ground floor corridor – newly remodeled ground floor has ample seating.
  • Blue and gold study rooms on the ground floor have multiple seating areas.
  • Health Sciences Bookstore (ground floor) – general table seating is available in the area outside of the Bookstore.
  • Student Activity Center (ground floor near the Bookstore) – multiple booth and table seating.
  • All classrooms outside of scheduled class times are available for study use.
  • Various HSC school programs have dedicated student lounges and study space. Check with a program director or dean for additional information.

For assistance with navigating the Health Sciences Center, campus maps are available online or via the Infostations located around the building.

The Dining Services team appreciates the patience and understanding of the Health Sciences community as operations are continually optimized to provide students, faculty and staff the best possible on-campus dining experience.
