Welcome new PRC and ICRC members!

WV Prevention Research Center

Micah Gregory, an Illinois native, joined the WV Prevention Research Center as a Project Coordinator to support community partners in statewide health initiatives focusing on a variety of issues including diabetes, obesity and other chronic diseases. He received his Bachelor’s in Nursing Science degree from the Instituto Esperança de Ensino Superior in Santarem, Brazil. During his time in Brazil, he worked with the Pittsburgh-based NGO, Amizade, managing community health projects, leading service-learning programs and facilitating global health rotations within the Amazon Basin. In 2015, he began working at WVU in the School of Natural Resources as a project manager for field research in the Pacific Northwest and tourism development initiatives in Brazil. He is very much looking forward to returning to the field of public health.

Kristin Grogg, joined the WV Prevention Research Center as a graduate assistant. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology (2013) and a Master of Public Health degree with an emphasis in epidemiology (2015) from WVU. During her master’s work, studied cardiovascular outcomes before and after bariatric surgery procedures. Her current plan of study as a PhD student in the WVU Clinical and Translational Science Doctoral Program capitalizes on her past work in the public health arena emphasizing prevention and wellness. Compelled by her state’s poor health outcomes, her interest in Exercise Medicine is to help design interventions to prevent worsening chronic disease and poor cardiovascular disease outcomes. Her interest in public health outcomes prevention, and Kristin will provide assistance with the PRC’s youth initiatives, data management, and general project support.

 

Injury Control Research Center

Dannell Boatman joined the School of Public Health in a permanent, full-time capacity as Education Core Lead in the Injury Control Research Center, effective November 27. 

 

Mary Holleran, Grants and Research Specialist joined the School of Public Health in a permanent, full-time capacity as Research Core Lead in the Injury Control Research Center, effective February 19.

 

Sherry Skidmore, MA, has developed and managed service and public programs for West Virginia University, the State of West Virginia, and the Office of the Governor. She recently joined the School of Public Health in a permanent, full-time capacity on November 15 as the Sr. Program Administrator in the Injury Control Research Center.
