WV PRC ACCEPTS BEST PRACTICE AWARD

The West Virginia Prevention Research Center (PRC) was presented with the Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) Best Practice Award at the PRC Directors’ meeting in Atlanta on April 12, 2011. The WV PRC is one of 37 Prevention Research Centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These PRCs are housed in universities across the country and share a focus on public health in community settings. This award was given to eleven PRCs by the CDC PRC National Community Committee (NCC). The award recognizes those PRCs, and their respective community partners, for applying CBPR principles and practices when carrying out their CDC-funded core research projects. The West Virginia PRC is a strong proponent of CBPR, and very fortunate to have an excellent and active Community Partnership Board with which to collaborate. We are honored to have been recognized by the NCC for our commitment to our community, West Virginia, and to the principles of community-based participatory research.
