WVU Global Public Health Brigades Spring Break Trip 2020
Message from Allison McCracken, president, Global Brigades, and Master of Public Health student:
Interested in studying abroad while gaining community service hours and benefiting from a life-changing experience? Join us on a 7-day trip to Panama this 2020 Spring Break! The trip will take place from March 14-20.
During the Public Health Brigades, volunteers will develop sustainable health solutions and establish a standard of health quality by emphasizing prevention and education. The Public Health Brigades achieves this goal by implementing in-home infrastructure projects, providing health education and engaging community members. Each public health brigade will have an opportunity to work with individual families, local schools and community leaders with a focus on holistic and preventative health measures on both an individual and community-wide scale. On this trip, you will also accumulate ~100 hours of community service!
Last spring, we were able to help the community by building a water well that supplied over 30 families. This might not seem like huge difference in the grand scheme of things, but to those families, we were the world.
A meeting will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m. in HSC-South, Room G285B (John Jones B). During the meeting, organizers will review the cost of the trip, deadlines and fundraising, as well as an agenda for the seven days in Panama and what we hope to accomplish during the trip.
If interested or have any questions/need directions, please feel free to email me.
Hope to see you there!
