WVU in the News: Analysis on COVID-19 surge with Dr. Christopher Martin

Dr. Christopher Martin joins Imam Malik Mujahid for a Muslim News Special Analysis on the recent surge of COVID-19 cases. 

Dr. Martin explains how the uptick is a result of the emergence of the COVID-19 variants, particularly the Delta variant, which is now considered the dominant strain in the U.S. 

He reinforces the critical role of the COVID-19 vaccine while sharing other key takeaways. 

"When you do not control the virus anywhere in the world, that affords the virus greater opportunities to mutate and create these new variants," he said. "This is why we keep emphasizing that efforts to immunize the entire population is in our own self interest. Until we get this virus suppressed globally, we remain at risk, every single one of us."
