WVU School of Public Health honorary society named Chapter of the Year for fourth time

The Gamma Mu Chapter of Delta Omega at the West Virginia University School of Public Health has won the national Chapter of the Year Award for the fourth consecutive time.

“This is the first time in the nearly 100 years of Delta Omega that a chapter has been named Chapter of the Year for four consecutive years, and the WVU Gamma Mu Chapter has only been in existence for four years,” said Keith Zullig, faculty adviser and chair of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences in the School of Public Health.

The WVU Gamma Mu Chapter takes part in many activities with a strong emphasis on community collaboration and service. Members have volunteered with the American Red Cross, checking and installing smoke detectors and teaching Morgantown residents about the importance of fire safety. Gamma Mu has also worked with the Rosenbaum Family House to prepare and serve healthy meals for families of Ruby Memorial Hospital patients.  

Currently, there are 84 Delta Omega chapters in the world, and Gamma Mu is one of the newest. Delta Omega invited the WVU chapter to give a presentation about its activities at the annual business meeting Monday (Oct. 31) in Denver.
