Training Manuals
Wheeling Walks Training Manual is designed to assist communities to assess needs, plan, implement, and evaluate this targeted physical activity campaign. Wheeling Walks demonstrated a 14% increase in walking as a result of the eight-week social marketing campaign (Reger et al., Preventive Medicine 2002). The results were sustained at 12 months (Reger-Nash et al., Family & Community Health 2005). A CDC study showed that the campaign was cost-effective (Roux et al., Am J Prev Med 2008). The model achieved similar results in other communities. The manual includes the resource materials necessary to carry out an effective intervention.

Community Health Participatory Planning - One of the most significant challenges in community health is how to assist communities in making meaningful changes. Most change programs focus on individuals. Sustainable change only occurs when an empowered community effects policy and environmental change. A community must know how to make change and then do it. This manual provides a proven approach to mobilizing a community to target public health challenges (Reger et al, Health Promotion Practice 2002).
