Graduate Admissions
Application deadlines:
- Spring admission (online programs only)
- Domestic applicants – Deadline extended to Nov. 20, 2024
- International applicants – Oct. 15
- Fall admission (Master’s programs)
- Domestic applicants – June 15
- International applicants – April 15
- Fall admission (Ph.D. programs) – Dec. 15
Please note: WVU School of Public Health now uses a two-part application process for all Master’s and Ph.D. programs.You MUST apply through Schools of Public Health Application Service (SOPHAS) first. See further information on how to apply below.
- Please keep in mind, you will not submit the WVU application until advised by the WVU School of Public Health admissions team.
- There are fees for both the SOPHAS and WVU applications.
For the SOPHAS application, applicants must submit:
- A statement of purpose and objectives
- Two letters of reference (Master’s programs)
- Three letters of reference (Ph.D. programs)
- A current resume/curriculum vitae
- All university transcripts (SOPHAS requires original transcripts from ALL S. institutions attended, including study abroad)
GRE test scores: GRE test scores are currently optional for WVU School of Public Health graduate programs. If you choose to submit your official GRE test scores, use WVU School of Public Health SOPHAS GRE code: 0157.
English proficiency scores: WVU requires international students to submit English proficiency scores. Minimum score requirements are as follows:
- Academic IELTS: 6.5
- TOEFL iBT: 79 (WVU accepts MyBest scores)
- PTE Academic: 53
- Duolingo English Test: 105

- Public Health Practice and Leadership
- Social and Behavioral Sciences
- Master of Health Administration

- Ph.D. in Public Health Sciences
- Epidemiology
- Social and Behavioral Sciences
- Submit your application via SOPHAS.
- Submit as soon as possible. Do not wait for SOPHAS to receive transcripts, recommendations or test scores.
- Allow up to four weeks for SOPHAS to verify and process your application.
- If accepted through SOPHAS, you will receive an email from the WVU School of Public Health regarding your acceptance and instructions to complete the WVU Graduate application.
- You should not complete the WVU Graduate application until you are invited to do so.

- Online Master of Public Health
- Public Health Practice and Leadership
- Online Master of Health Administration
- Online Master of Science in Population Health
- Submit your application via SOPHAS.
