In June 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) awarded funding to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR), Bureau for Public Health (WVBPH) through the National Initiative to Address COVID-19 Health Disparities Among Populations at High-Risk and Underserved, Including Racial and Ethnic Minority Populations and Rural Communities (NOFO: OT21-2103, known as 2103).

The WVPRC is conducting an impact evaluation on the overall project that will provide qualitative and quantitative data to assess the WVBPH’s effectiveness for enhancing health equity and reducing health disparities for populations at greater risk for COVID-19 infection and transmission, with a focus on racial and ethnic minority groups and people living in rural communities. Our evaluation will include data obtained at state, regional, and local levels.
