What this is

WV Health Equity Action Team (HEAT) is a statewide collaborative working together to create a healthy and equitable West Virginia. HEAT seeks to improve the health of historically disadvantaged West Virginians by building capacity and cultivating systemic change to eliminate barriers to health equity. Current partners of HEAT include WV Division of Health Promotion and Chronic Disease (HPCD), Sisters of St. Joseph Foundation, Marshall University Minority Health Institute (MHI), the WVPRC, and more.

What We Do

The WVPRC participates in bi-weekly HEAT meetings to plan and implement various programs. HEAT's efforts have included launching a Capacity-Building Grant program specifically for racial and ethnic minorities in West Virginia, conducting focus groups and community health needs assessment with racial and ethnic minorities and LGBTQ+ populations, and providing capacity-building and training workshops around Health Equity.
