Health disparities are shaped by behavioral and sociocultural factors. The study of Social and Behavioral Sciences in public health focuses on psychosocial, behavioral, community and societal influences on health and the development of interventions that eliminate barriers to health and healthcare access.
School of Public Health Professor Ranjita Misra was a guest speaker at the 20th Annual Texas Conference on Health Disparities, held June 4–6, 2025. Earlier this year, she joined national experts as a grant reviewer for a National Institutes of Health Special Emphasis Panel.
