As 2021 comes to a close, we gratefully reflect on the efforts and achievements of our School of Public Health students, faculty and staff, highlighted below. From launching new programs and departments that will help bolster the future public health workforce to responding to the COVID-19 pandemic to being recognized for exceptional dedication to the public health field, our school is poised for continued momentum in the new year.

In response to the pressing need to invest in public health and strengthen the public health workforce, West Virginia University will establish a unified Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Public Health.
The West Virginia University School of Public Health Occupational Medicine residency program has been reaccredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, making it one of 23 accredited programs in the nation. WVU’s program is the only one of its kind in the Appalachian region.
