School of Public Health hosts undergraduate new student welcome
The School of Public Health hosted a new student welcome event for its undergraduates on Monday, August 16. This marks the first year for an event of its type, giving undergraduate newcomers a chance to meet fellow students and get acquainted with the Health Sciences Center in Morgantown. Both 2020 and 2021 freshmen/new transfer cohorts were invited to attend.
The event, primarily hosted outdoors in the HSC Memorial Garden, included a welcome from Audra Hamrick, director of undergraduate studies, and tours of the HSC, led by School of Public Health Dean’s Ambassadors.
Tours were staggered, allowing students to tour the facility in smaller groups as they stopped at various points of interest, including the HSC Bookstore, classroom spaces, The Market and BeWell, which provides confidential, compassionate services to all Health Sciences majors, including undergraduate, graduate and professional programs.
At each stop, students heard from various members of the School of Public Health (SPH), including Sarah Opatz, developmental advising specialist, who provided an overview of campus safety precautions and academic resources.
