I knew I wanted to go into healthcare and help people--just not bedside. After researching I chose public health, because I was able to go into healthcare without doing direct patient care.
What does public health mean to you?
Public health means helping the people of the United States regardless of their background and preventing diseases before they happen.
Why did you choose to study public health at WVU?
I chose to study public health at WVU because I knew I wanted to go into healthcare and help people just not bedside. After researching I chose the School of Public Health, because I was still able to go into healthcare without being involved in direct patient care.
What would you tell prospective students about WVU and the School of Public Health?
I would tell a prospective WVU student that it's okay to go out and have fun--just make sure you make time for studying and class. Something I would tell a School of Public Health student is that the people you meet in the classrooms will be some of the best people and mentors you'll meet during your time at the University.
What advice would you give to your freshman self?
If I could give my freshman self advice it would be that one bad grade will not be the end of your college career. It's okay to fail.
How have your experiences in the School of Public Health helped prepare you for your future?
My experiences in the School of Public Health have helped prepare me, because I have learned how to properly convey a message to any audience, how to interpret information, and how to then present the information.
What do you plan to do upon completion of your degree?
After graduation, I plan on either going back to get my PhD or starting a job in healthcare management--hopefully at WVU Medicine Golisano Children's or the WVU Cancer Institute.
