Tom Heywood
Tom Heywood is the managing partner of Bowles Rice LLP, a regional, full service law firm with 115 attorneys and seven offices in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Virginia. He has significant experience in health care, corporate, finance and commercial law, and chairs the firm’s government relations team. He was named one of the “10 Most Influential Business Leaders in West Virginia” by The State Journal and was a recipient of the “Who’s Who in West Virginia Business” award.
Heywood earned his law degree from Harvard Law School and his undergraduate degree in international relations from Stanford University. He joined Bowles Rice in 1983. From 1990 to 1993 he served as Governor Gaston Caperton’s Chief of Staff, returning to Bowles Rice in 1993.
Heywood serves on numerous charitable and non-profit boards and has received many awards for his community involvement, including the YMCA of Kanawha Valley’s Spirit of the Valley award in 2017. He also participates actively in various business and trade associations. Heywood was recognized as a Fellow of the American Bar Association for his many contributions to the legal profession.
